a space for nothing

a series of A SPACE FOR NOTHING

Clay did not want to be solid and anything created from clay spontaneously made voids and holes inside to let air flow between the inside and the outside. The natural spirit of shaping things from clay leads various forms. This series of works is the resonance between myself and clay.As things reflect everyday changes of mind and feelings, my ceramics have a variety of shapes according to such changes. No matter whether it is practical or not.It is just hollow inside. I have an empathy of word of LAOZI;"A wheel has thirty spokes and one hub.We can use a wheel because a hub has a hole to insert an axle.We knead clay and make a vessel. We can use a vessel because it has a space with nothing.A house has doors and windows. We can live in a house because it has a space with nothing. So when we use something we always benefit by"nothing".
